The Opportunity
PeopleIN is seeking a WHS Advisor to join our team in Brisbane. This role will work in the wider PeopleIN safety team focusing on Trades & Labour Industries.
About the role
Reporting to the Group Head of WHS, the PeopleIN WHS Advisor is responsible for the operational delivery of work health and safety practices. Ensuring compliance with work health and safety legislation, and assistance with the development of best practice WHS systems to deliver a safe workplace for all internal staff and on-hire workers.
- Work across various client sites and industries including Civil, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Trades and Labour.
- Support the delivering of the Safety Management Plan.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Group WHS Management System.
- Assist with emergency management activities with the local teams, and support the risk management, governance, and compliance strategies with the Head of WHS.
- Working collaboratively on WorkCover and return to work activities with the RTW Managers.
- Provide advice and guidance in investigations into safety matters (including workplace incidents) and report findings to the relevant supervisors and/or Managers.
- Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, to recommend and implement appropriate corrective actions and controls.
- Contribute and facilitate findings within the corrective action register
- Collate and analyse incident data and trends.
- Assist with supporting the Group WHS Manager with external audits and ISO45001 accreditation.
- Assist with the WHS component for tenders.

- Formal qualification in Health and Safety (or working towards).
- 1 - 2 years working in a safety focused role.
- Ability to travel very regularly to client sites and other offices including interstate.
- Highly proficient in the use of technology; Microsoft suite of products, and online injury management software.
- Knowledge of or ability to interpret health & safety legislation and regulations.
- Broad general experience across a range of health and safety activities, including workplace auditing and development of corrective actions.
- Knowledge and understanding of health and safety practices and procedures including the promotion of health and safety culture.
- Ability to achieve required results by engaging and influencing managers, staff and clients.
